A wonder drug guaranteed to help your pet
A prescription is readily available that will absolutely improve your dog's quality of life, and all a pet parent needs to do is fill it and simply administer the medicine, a leading veterinarian says.
This mysterious wonder drug that will better your pet's health can be given every day in regular doses.
The medication is: Your state of mind.
A pet parent needs to stop worrying so much about their dog suffering a major illness or debilitating accident and pay more attention to common ailments like ear, skin and stomach problems, according to Carol McConnell, chief veterinary medical officer for Veterinary Pet Insurance.
The fear of catastrophic disease is causing too many pet parents to overlook chronic conditions that are far more likely to require veterinary treatment and can ruin a dog's quality of life, Dr. McConnell says.
"Pet owners have a tendency to fear major accidents and illnesses - car crash injuries or cancer - but a chronic condition can be just as detrimental to a pet's quality of life and financially burdensome to treat," Dr. McConnell states in a media release.
To emphasize the point, Veterinary Pet Insurance did a study of the top 10 reasons for a dog to visit a veterinarian, and no major diseases or illnesses made the list.
"The large number of claims received for these medical conditions attests to their often repetitive or chronic nature," Dr. McConnell said. "A dog with allergies, for example, will most likely require continuing care."

To emphasize the point, Veterinary Pet Insurance did a study of the top 10 reasons for a dog to visit a veterinarian, and no major diseases or illnesses made the list.
The
top reasons for visits to veterinarian's office are skin allergy,
first, and ear infection, second, according to a review of insurance
claims made by pet parents to VPI in 2012.
"The large number of claims received for these medical conditions attests to their often repetitive or chronic nature," Dr. McConnell said. "A dog with allergies, for example, will most likely require continuing care."
Rounding
out the top 10 list put together by VPI are: skin
infection, third; non-cancerous skin growth, fourth; upset
stomach/vomiting, fifth; arthritis, sixth; intestinal upset/diarrhea,
seventh; bladder infection, eighth; periodontitis/dental disease,
ninth; bruise or contusion, 10th.
Most of the top ailments will cause a noticeable change in the behavior or appearance of a pet, Dr. McConnell said. She advises pet parents to do a daily inspection a pet's eyes, ears, and skin. A pet who has lumps, sores, unusual odor or a drastic change in behavior should be immediately examined by a veterinarian.

“Although a few of the top 10 dog and cat conditions can be associated with an animal’s natural aging process, many of the conditions can occur in any pet,” Dr. McConnell said. VM, “Regardless of the age or breed of the dog or cat, pet owners should familiarize themselves with their pets’ daily routine in order to identify abnormal behaviors that might indicate an injury or illness.”
